You received a proposed tax adjustment (proposition de rectification)
In short
After an audit, the tax office proposes to correct your tax and explains why. It is a proposal: you can accept it or send your comments.
Deadlines to check
- You have 30 days from receipt to reply.
- This can be extended by 30 days if you ask and your request arrives before the first deadline ends.
- If you do not reply in time, you are treated as having accepted the proposal.
What to do
- Note the date you received it (the registered-mail receipt is the reference).
- If you need time, ask for the extension in writing, straight away.
- You have the right to be assisted by an adviser of your choice (lawyer, accountant), as the audited taxpayer's charter states.
- Reply in writing, point by point, with your supporting documents.
